Hello all! Hard to believe Christmas is just around the corner!
This will be my last update of 2012! Since my previous update in mid July it has been a busy few months! At the end of July I was beyond thrilled to be part of the TELUS World Skins game in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, Oregon
Before the event I took a quick side trip to Cape Breton and was blown away by the courses out there! I had a chance to see Le Portage, a hidden gem in the area and the much acclaimed newly opened Cabot Links that shares owners with its American counterpart Bandon Dunes (Oregon). Cabot Links was SPECTACULAR! There is no doubt in my mind that this will be a top 20 in the World golf course, if not better! It is in sight and sound of the sea and is authentic links style golf! The accommodations and dining are also beyond reproach! It is a must play for the golfers out there!

I was then off to the Skins game co-sponsored by Nike! There were 5 Nike players there including Canada’s Stephen Ames, Carl Pettersson, Lucas Glover, Paul Casey and defending champion Johnattan Vegas. It was a magical week with perfect weather held at the stunning Glen Arbour Golf Course. I was also thrilled to meet actor and avid golfer Kevin Costner and low single digit handicapper Canadian rocker Tom Cochrane! They each sang for TELUS’ special guests at an intimate concert. An unforgettable experience! I was also thrilled to do some media interviews while there, play in a Pro-Am and conduct a children’s clinic for the IWK Hospital Foundation.
Kelly Hrudey & Friends Charity Golf Tournament
After returning back home I was honored to be one of the special guests at the Kelly Hrudey & Friends Charity Golf Tournament also sponsored by Nike. Other special guests included Mantracker Terry Grant, Brett Wilson, Cassie Campbell and Catriona Lemay Doan. A tremendous amount of money was raised for charity and a great time was had by all! I was thrilled to play on a Pro-Am team with special sponsors including Safeway’s team. We had a hoot! I also conducted a clinic for all the guests which I thoroughly enjoyed!
The fall quickly came and it was time for National Championships in September. I came in 2nd place by 4 yards and was extremely disappointed. It did give me great motivation for World Championships. I started to make a key swing change. In the mean time I had a chance to practice my new moves at several Corporate and Charity tournaments including the Flames Celebrity Golf Classic, The PGI for Literacy tournament and a wonderful event in Washington, DC supporting My Own Place charity, organized by Sister Sharon Dillon. At this event I also had an opportunity to reconnect with my EWGA Washington girls where I put on a Power Tips clinic and played a fabulous round with several members. They kindly took me on a tour of Washington and we had too much fun!
World Championships in Mesquite, Nevada
Shortly afterwards I was at World Championships in Mesquite, Nevada. I felt great about my new swing but I was rattled when we experienced a 20-30 mph head wind, the first of my competitive career. I advanced through the rounds to the semi-finals where I placed 5th and the top 3 girls advanced to finals. Again, I was very disappointed but am completely inspired and excited to get my new swing grooved for 2013!
