Hello All!
Well it has been another slow start to the golf season in Calgary. Still single digit days! Brrrrrr!
Since my last update have racked up some air miles. I was thrilled to go down to Las Vegas to speak and perform at the Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA) National Conference. I met incredible women from all over North America who are passionate about the game and have a love of life! It was truly an amazing experience. I have made wonderful new friends.
Soon after my return I was off to New York on a pleasure trip, the first time I haven’t brought my sticks to the Big Apple. We were having an early celebration for my husband’s birthday. It was a mile stone birthday so as a surprise I booked the Gotham Dream Car Tour. Unfortunately we didn’t get to drive the Bat Mobile but he drove several luxury cars including Lamborghinis, a Ferrari and a Bentley.
It was quite an amazing experience! Luckily no speeding tickets! I love New York and for the first time went to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. I was also very moved at the brand new 9/11 Memorial and the new Freedom Tower under construction. We caught a Yankees Game and went to the play Jersey Boys.
I was excited to get the new Nike+ Fuel Band Down at Nike Town in Manhattan. It addition to serving as a watch it measures calories burned and steps taken. We were over 22,000 steps a day in New York. I have no clue how some of those ladies wear high heels there! It has been an excellent motivator for my fitness and I can upload the results from my band to track my progress on the computer (http://www.nike.com/fuelband/).
Once back I had a great day playing in a charity golf game and attending the Calgary Special Olympics 30 year Anniversary Breakfast with other athletes including former Calgary Flames Joel Otto and Perry Berezan and Olympic Gold Medalists Kyle Shewfelt and Michelle Cameron to name a few. Special Olympians truly demonstrate what sport is all about. They are incredible people with so much heart!
Later that day it was off to Phoenix with my sister to celebrate another milestone birthday this time for my mom. We had a great girls trip that even included a night at Game 1 of the Stanley Cup semi finals the Coyotes vs the Kings. Although they lost it was great to be part of the excitement.
I too celebrated a birthday (a lady never tells, so don’t ask 🙂 , over the May long weekend and was even silly enough to get in the water though only a balmy 16 deg C. The season is now in full swing and I had a wonderful time kick starting it at Priddis Greens, host of the 2009 LPGA Canadian Open. I did a Power Tips clinic and motivational speech for the ladies. Although it was chilly out the ladies made up for it in enthusiasm! Such fun!
I have attached a photo show just over 4 min long with some of the highlights from the update. It will be a fun way to start a Monday Morning! Cranking the speakers will help get you in a great mood for the week, or at the very least annoy your office mates! 😉 Give it a few seconds to load. Once it starts playing click the double rectangle to right of volume button to watch in full screen.
Happy Memorial Day to my American friends and enjoy the longer lasting sunshine everyone. I love June!
Lisa
